Anyone pull the crown out on their quartz watches when not wearing them?

I'm thinking about buying one of Eddie Platts's PRS-18Q watches at the moment. It has a Ronda 715Li quartz movement in it which boasts a 10 year battery life and a 70% reduction in power consumption if you pull the crown out and stop the watch. By my rough maths that would mean if I wore it a couple of times a month and stopped it when I wasn't wearing it that battery would last 30 years, which may be longer than me (it would out me at 3 score years and 10).
This got me thinking, I don't mind setting my autos when I put them on so why not my quartzes too! It's not so much about the cost of battery replacement but maintaining the integrity of the case.
Am I nuts or is this a sensible option?

You're not nuts, Olly... oh, wait, I forgot, we're all nuts. Nevermind.

Actually your idea is quite reasonable for a 1-3 year watch battery. It could double the life at least. Many coin cells have a shelf live of 5 years or more. However you still risk leakage and such over longer durations and that could really hurt the watch. We all know quartzies have the benefit of accuracy, ruggedness, affordability, cheap maintenance and "always" running, perfect for grab&go and beaters. My quartzes get less wear than mechanicals, perhaps they lack the romance in my mind. However, they serve well when I need those other things. Pulling the crown sort-of reduces the convenience I guess. :-s

That's so that watches with a 1-3 year battery life aren't half dead by the time they're sold. It also reduces wear and tear on the mechanical components of quartz analog watches.
