Hi can anyone help Identify this mark.
At first I thought it was IF in a marque.
Now thinking its HF in some sort of Marque - Painters Palette maybe.

The watch is also marked ACHEF. Mean anything?

I have some thoughts, but any input appreciated

Thanks

Hi Adam,
its the mark of Huguenin Freres a well known highquality watch case maker. This firm still exicts but nowadays the make medals and trophies which was their orgin before they startet also with cases. This is a wrist watch. During the aera, as they used this logo, they where famous for their tula silvercases, but this is quite rare used for male wrist watches. But if it's tula please show the back of this case. I love this stuff and couldn't see enough of it.
The movement must have another orgin but they deliver a lot of swiss and german watchmakers. Therefore a suggestion is impossible.

Kind regards Silke

Thanks to both of you.
That is the one I found, my error in disregarding it was being a case maker rather than a watch maker.
So I guess the case Huguenin but the movement elsewhere?
Or did they make watches as well?
Huguenin, A. Fils made complete watches, is this different part of family

Thanks

It often seems to me, that the Swiss watch(part)maker are all somehow together relatives. I know nothing about the ralationship between Huguenin freres and his Frabrique Niel with Huguenin, A. Fils but locle isn't a big city. Maybe I get some further informations by searching. HF defenitly don't produce movements. You find for example movements made by: IWC, Cyma/Tavannes, Zenith, Longines, Eterna and also quite unknown watchmaker. He just made the best Tula ones. ..( and I forget relief ..thanks enrico )

As an addition: The marks set that they are a little looking like english hallmarks you see quite often. May be it's done for the export. During this period enlish watchmakers in average makes much better movements as the cheap swiss competitors who start high amound manufactoring and they have been far away from the american level in this section.

Kind regards Silke
